My lips get really chapped this time of year - the dry and flaky kind of chapped that requires extensive amounts of balm before any lip color can be applied. It's a time consuming process, and because of it, you'll often see me out in the Winter only wearing Chapstick. Then enters Maybelline Color Elixir - sent to me for free by Refinery29 as a part of Maybelline's Color Elixir launch. The Elixirs look like tubes of lipstick, they provide rich color like a lipstick but are actually applied like a gloss (with a wand applicator) and look smooth and glossy on. Each color delivers so much moisture that I completely skipped my pre-balming session and went straight to the color. Like magic, the color lasted all day and my lips felt great.
