Carla Cabrera and Marshall Johnson from the The President Wear Prada are two of the coolest people I've met since moving to DC. Together they hold many talents (photographer, scientist, furniture designer, fashionista, blogger, videographer...), and yet they're still incredibly humble and extremely supportive of their peers. I'm inspired by everything they do, and I'm proud to call them my friends.
Last Saturday, they launched the Ulysses Room - "a studio loft and creative event space which stands at the crossroads of fashion, art, photography, and film".
Ulysses Room is also a creative space that they share with another artistic power couple - knitwear designer Virginia Arrisueno of DeNada and artist Kelly Towles.

I discovered Kelly's amazing, animated art earlier this year at the Water Street Project and then had the opportunity to meet him and see more of his art at Kushi. I love how he mixes defined and colorful characters with street art spray paint strokes. I'm very drawn to each character. They're so cool. I want to meet them in real life and know more about them.
His work can also be seen at DC Brau, Graffiato, and Toki Underground.

After trying on Virginia's scarves at the showroom launch party, I'm obsessed. I now own 3 of her designs and will be gifting more to family and friends for Christmas. Each piece is handmade and is inspired by the culture and traditions of Virginia's Peruvian heritage.
