There's no better place to be on the 4th of July than in DC. The monuments, Capitol, White House, museums...all provide the perfect backdrop for celebrating our Independence Day. Add in BBQs, pool parties, a parade, and fireworks, and you have one of my favorite holidays.

As a Washingtonian, I feel it's my duty to wear the most patriotic outfit possible on the 4th. The only tricky part is that July is DC's hottest and most humid month and navigating your way around the city with an extra hundreds of thousands or so tourists requires a very comfortable ensemble. I like to go with shorts, light layers (because it's hot outside but cool inside), and sneakers.
