Look closely at my shoes... Do you see the "T" pattern?! I like to think Ms. Burch made them especially for me. :) Unfortunately, I can't find this specific pattern on anything else! (Fortunate for my wallet.) Oh well...

Today is the 2-month birthday of my blog!! Something I've realized about myself (among many things) since starting this blog is that my work attire often consists of a button-up shirt plus a pencil skirt plus a pair of close-toed pumps. When I wear this combination I feel professional and yet still very feminine.

I'm not trying to say I invented the look. :) I'm just saying I didn't realize how often I wore it. Call it my uniform.

I love Johnny Cash. (Who doesn't?) Listening to his music always takes me back to the summer that I met my husband. When he would pick me up for a date or a day at the beach, it seemed he would always have Walk the Line, A Boy Named Sue, or Folsom Prison Blues playing on his car stereo. So when I hear Cash, I always think of warm weather and one of the best summers of my life. :)

Speaking of warm weather, the forecasted temperature for today and tomorrow is in the 60s & 70s! Yes!! I've already started unpacking my spring wardrobe! Have you?

joker pants

My husband calls these my joker pants. I was pretty confused when he first assigned this name to them.

Me: My what pants??

Husband: Joker pants.

Me: These look nothing like what Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger wears in Batman.

Husband: No, the guy on playing cards.

Me: Um...okay... I guess I can kind of see it.

Husband: I like them.

Me: :)

What do you think? Do these look like joker pants to you? If so, is that a good thing?

When I was a little girl, my mom would make a special sherbert punch for her summer social gatherings. I remember watching her mix orange, raspberry, and lime sherbert together (with some other ingredients) in a large crystal punch bowl and then impatiently waiting for the moment when she would say it was okay for me to ladle some into my cup. I was so enamored by the colorful concoction and the way she looked when she was making it.

My mom just celebrated her 51st birthday last week with family and friends overseas. Since I wasn't able to join the party, I wore this outfit in celebration of my mom and her sugary sweet punch.

all the wild horses

I've had Ray's song, All The Wild Horses, in my head all week which may have subliminally inspired this outfit. I like how some of the horses on this dress (worn as a shirt) are upside down. To me, it gives life to the print, and it's as though you can see tiny wild horse running across my body. (You're staring at my chest now right now, aren't you?) :) A print like this obviously needs a fun accessory, so I paired it with my husband's newsboy hat. This hat hails from Ireland by way of my mother-in-law on a recent trip there. I love receiving a gift from someone's travel adventure that can be worn!

I work in a predominantly male industry so, at times, it does feel like I'm in the Navy. I'm not complaining, but I'm also not conforming. It's important to me to be myself and dress the way I want to (within the bounds of the office dress code of course). When I'm put together, I feel better. When I feel good, I work better. So by the transitive property - dressing up for work makes me a better worker. Makes sense, right?

One item of clothing I will never wear in the office is open-toed shoes. I don't care how "dressy" the shoe is or how fresh the pedicure is, I don't want to see feet (even my own) at work. But perhaps I'm old school... What are your thoughts on open toed shoes in the office?

I'm having a really productive work week! Since it's only Wednesday, I'm pretty stoked about it. I just hope I can keep up this momentum for the rest of the month. Can you believe it's already February? There's so much I'm looking forward to this month - two trips, two family birthdays, and of course, Valentine's Day with my husband.

I used to have an amazing memory. I was one of those people who could recall any event, who was there, what was discussed, and what everyone wore. :) Today, I can barely remember what I did yesterday. <sigh> I take notes on everything and have dozens of reminders set-up on my calendar. Darn this aging process!

I wore this Missoni dress to work this week as a reminder that the Jason Wu for Target line comes out on Feb. 5! Anyone else excited? I've definitely got my eye on few things...
